The Joint Government Affairs Committee
2009 Legislative Agenda
The 2009 legislative session presents many challenges to our Governor and the Legislature. A looming deficit, declining revenues, national recession, volatile stock market and growing needs will have people looking under every rock for revenue. And business is where they always go to fix their financial woes. Our message to the Legislature is to incentivise rather than tax business. Helping businesses to grow and be competitive, will generate additional tax dollars while putting more people to work.
To that end, the Joint Government Affairs Committee has identified several key areas of focus that comprise our legislative agenda:
Taxes and Fees
Transportation
Education – Pre K-12 through Higher Education
Health Care
Economic Development and Competitiveness
Regulation
Climate Change
Housing
Technology
